I've been doing "shadows" for awhile, but the inspiration always came from fashion magazines. I've started a new series called "dream shadows" that are all from my imagination. This group is my "Imaginary Friend" series...

An odd sort of painting...
I saw this at a funeral home when I was unfortunately attending my great aunt's funeral. I thought it was an odd sort of painting for a funeral home, but I still liked it. The little girl has such a look of longing as she perches backwards in her chair, facing away from whatever she should have been doing. The posture and the half hidden face makes her seem detached. The entire piece looks ghostly. I wish I had her hanging up in my house.

Tiny ring sculptures...
I am completely obsessed with making these rings! They are so fun and colorful, and I never have a real plan for how they are going to turn out. I just start pinching and sculpting and painting! They are my favorite things to make right now!
These pretty little rings are lovingly hand sculpted using paperclay then painted with watercolors. I used sepia toned ink to draw the line details, then the entire sculpture is double coated in a water resistant sealant. It is securely attached to a white gold plated adjustable ring.
Each tiny ring sculpture is truly a one of a kind work of art.

Mere, Mingle, and Manifest abstract watercolor paintings
These are 3 of my newest watercolor paintings. I love the bright colors and the organic shapes. Each is a limited edition of 20.

Tiny Menagerie sculpture construct...
This is my tiny menagerie made out of polymer clay, craft paper, acrylic paint, and a found box. All of the animals, which include a rabbit, squirrel, whale, and two birds, are painted with white acrylic paint. I thought about painting in details, but I like how the pristine whiteness showed the lines of the sculptures. They are loose and placed in the little shelf decorated with craft paper and acrylic paint. On the back, there is a vintage dictionary page with the word "menagerie" bordered. I made it so it can either hang or be put on a flat surface, just depending on where I place it. I like to move things around in my home often because I think that the eye gets lazy and stops seeing things that have been in one place for too long.
It makes me smile...

Very happy holidays...
I hope everyone out there had a wonderful holiday season. We had a wonderful time. We saw lots of family and friends, and we had lots of fun. Phi didn't really understand what was going on, so this was probably the last calm Christmas we'll have for several years.
I hope you have a wonderful 2009 full of love and happiness!
